I will be playing this live, tomorrow 7/26 around 5PM EST.
I tried out the demo, and the first thing I noticed was how amazing the graphics are. The neighborhood is built with great detail and has everyday activities that make it feel alive — very impressive. However, the game still has quite a few issues. For example, there are several bugs during the can-collecting segment, and even in the loading scene where you're supposed to press any key to move to the next scene, I encountered a bug that made me wait a while before the game moved on. It would also be helpful to have a quest pinning feature so players can easily track what to do next.
As for the story, I think it’s quite good — it has a clear beginning, but I still couldn’t quite grasp what the twist is supposed to be. Overall, I feel this is a very promising project in terms of visuals. It just needs some polish in terms of player interaction and a clearer storyline. I'm really looking forward to the full release.
A prime example of what your demo should not be - no direction, no tasks, no hints, no explanation, bugged out interactions and so much more - just a beautiful mess.
Visually, stylistically - the game is great. The details in this are really intuitive, the NPC interactions, the house itself, but that's the end of the praise. The game has complete 0 direction - it doesn't explain how to interact with objects, when it does, the interactions are bugged out, when I pick-up soda cans I can go and take a shower with those cans and carry them with me through, I mean honestly, I highly encourage you to fix this fast.
Also, the plot is more or less similar to Disturbia (2007) movie.
Good luck.
Edit: Not going to rate this, because its a demo and I really do not want this to have a bad rating. At least giving a chance to fix and improve.
You're absolutely right, and I completely agree. This is my first game, and I can honestly say I'm probably a bad game designer and just as bad of a developer. But I really do appreciate your feedback, and I’ll definitely try to improve some of the things you mentioned to make it a bit more enjoyable to play.
Either way, I’m incredibly grateful that you took the time to share your thoughts - seriously, thank you. When the game launches on Steam, I’d love to send you a key!
First!!
